Aidan Keith Cotter OBE (born in 1940) was the Coroner for Birmingham and Solihull from 2001 to 2013.

Career[]

Aidan Keith Cotter was born in 1940. He studied law at Birmingham University as a teenager and became the coroner for Birmingham and Solihull in 2001 on the retirement of Dr. Richard Whittington. He received an OBE in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to the bereaved. Mr. Cotter was the eighth person to hold the role since it began in 1840.

When he retired after 12 years in the coroner's office, his successor, former city solicitor Louise Hunt, became the first woman to take on the role of Senior Coroner in the city.
