Darren Salter is Her Majesty's Coroner for Oxfordshire. His office is the Oxford Register Office in Oxford.
Career[]
He has been Oxfordshire's senior coroner since 2012, after the old coroner, Nicholas Gardiner, retired in April 2012.
"No Name" controversy[]
In March of 2014, he sparked outrage after having refused to name the deceased (a man who died of a drink and drugs overdose) at an inquest, which breaches coroner regulation. Oxford Mail, the local newspaper, demanded a probe into Mr. Salter's conduct.
George Michael[]
He also investigated the death of musician and Wham! singer George Michael (Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou) who died on 25 December 2016 at his home in Goring on Thames, Oxfordshire. . His ruling that Michael died of natural causes.
